Common Types of Dental Emergencies
What constitutes as a dental emergency? Here are some of the most common dental problems that require immediate attention:
- Broken Tooth or Restoration
- Chipped, Cracked, or Broken Tooth
- Inflamed or Infected Bump on Gums
- Knocked-Out Tooth
- Lost Dental Filling
- Mild to Severe Toothache
How to Handle a Knocked-Out Tooth
If a permanent tooth gets knocked out, pick it up by the crown (top of the tooth) and gently rinse off any debris. Then, if possible, place it back into the socket and bite down carefully on a piece of clean gauze to hold it in place. If you can’t reinsert the tooth, transport it to our office in a cup of milk or saltwater. This will help keep the root alive so that we can hopefully save the tooth and successfully replant it.
